Salvia hispanica, or the chia plant, is a species in the mint family that is native to Central America. The seeds of this herb are known as “chia seeds” and they have gained quite a bit of popularity in recent years. Not only are they gluten/grain free naturally, but a single serving is reported to have: as much calcium as a glass of milk more Omega-3s than a serving of walnuts as many antioxidants as blueberries. They give you tons of energy but also won’t keep you awake at night and are supposed to be great for weight loss. Because they can absorb many times their size/weight in liquid, they are great for avoiding dehydration during exercise or exposure to heat. Are Chia Seeds Good for You? Chia seeds have a fascinating and long history of use by several cultures. I’m hesitant to use the word “superfood” because the word is so over-used in modern times and also because there are some confounding factors that may inhibit nutrient use. Supposedly, the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incans used chia as a staple of their diet and …
Oh this seems LUSCIOUS!!! I can’t wait to try it and wanted to share. FOR ONCE, I have all the ingredients on hand for a recipe I want to try yay!!! While a salt scrub is awesome for heels and elbows, it’s also a wonderful overall body scrub. I’ve also been experimenting more with essential oils, and I am definitely finding some favorites — like peppermint. I love the way it smells, and it’s so refreshing too. And lavender — clean, pure, and not at all heavy like the some of the scented products you’ll find in the stores. I’m usually sensitive to heavy perfumes and scents, so Lavender oil was a nice surprise! Read the recipe below-
I really don’t think I would have made a great hippie. My parents were decent at it I suppose but I am too much of an activist. I know hippies were activists in their own right (some of them anyway) but I am blessed/cursed with a unique combination of being conservative and liberal, feminist yet still finding the value of a woman caring for children and staying at home, a Christian but not religious, oh my gosh, it makes my head spin sometimes when trying to decide where I stand on an issue! But phooey on all of that right now! Let’s talk Christmas. Let’s talk Christmas on a budget. Let’s talk Christmas with meaning and depth and gifts that have a lasting impact! It’s ok to be fluid! Alright alright alright! It’s wonderful to set goals and plan but it’s ok to fluid and go with the flow too. It just depends on how you are. I’ve always been more ok I’m doing this oh! No I’m gonna go do that now, just depending on what’s happening or what’s come up. Raising a child with autism has made me have to be that way and I’ve kind of always felt like that’s not good to be that way no I need to plan it all out and follow it perfectly but that’s not me. And that’s ok. Feeling good about myself or you feeling good about yourself is what’s gonna lead to better productivity anyway and help you enjoy life more! So yes, set goals, make a plan, then allow yourself to work through that your way. You’ll actually get more done.

Having struggled much of my life with what I would call “very severe” anxiety disorder, I deeply appreciate anything that contributes positively to our mental health. I don’t think depression has been a big problem for me unless having to deal with the anxiety gets me down OR something painful happens, however, as I age and realize more about myself and life, I know it’s best for me to keep my brain as happy as possible!
