Compared to traditional salsa, guacamole sometimes requires a more adventurous palate. Its texture and green appearance may raise an eyebrow at first, but guacamole contains a wealth of essential nutrients not found in more processed alternatives, such as mayonnaise. Once you understand the nutritional profile of guacamole, you may decide to use it to replace less-healthy options. Um YES! Read on HERE.
The term “all-natural” is thrown around quite loosely in the beauty business and there is a lot of misinformation out there. I try to research my beauty products and the ingredients in them, but sometimes it can be challenging to understand what some of the ingredients are and if the product is actually good for you. I recently discovered the EWG Healthy Living app and it’s so wonderful and helpful! It gives beauty products and groceries a rating based on nutrition, ingredient concerns and the degree of processing. The best scores are rated with a green “1” and the worst with a red “10”. You can also see the breakdown of all the ingredients in the product and then all of those ingredients are rated as well. This is great because it helps you recognize specific ingredients that are red flags. Check out this helpful app HERE.

I have suffered greatly with anxiety most of my life and was actually diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder in 2010. The Anxiety also lead to depression. Medications for that lead to weight gain and more depression. I was on 7 meds at one time and didn’t want to live that way anymore. I knew there had to be a better way so I started researching and trying things, researching and trying things. This lead to me learning a LOT about different natural remedies, what breaks the blood brain barrier and what does not. After two years of trial and error, this is what I took and did to get down to just one medication.
Salvia hispanica, or the chia plant, is a species in the mint family that is native to Central America. The seeds of this herb are known as “chia seeds” and they have gained quite a bit of popularity in recent years. Not only are they gluten/grain free naturally, but a single serving is reported to have: as much calcium as a glass of milk more Omega-3s than a serving of walnuts as many antioxidants as blueberries. They give you tons of energy but also won’t keep you awake at night and are supposed to be great for weight loss. Because they can absorb many times their size/weight in liquid, they are great for avoiding dehydration during exercise or exposure to heat. Are Chia Seeds Good for You? Chia seeds have a fascinating and long history of use by several cultures. I’m hesitant to use the word “superfood” because the word is so over-used in modern times and also because there are some confounding factors that may inhibit nutrient use. Supposedly, the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incans used chia as a staple of their diet and …
Oh this seems LUSCIOUS!!! I can’t wait to try it and wanted to share. FOR ONCE, I have all the ingredients on hand for a recipe I want to try yay!!! While a salt scrub is awesome for heels and elbows, it’s also a wonderful overall body scrub. I’ve also been experimenting more with essential oils, and I am definitely finding some favorites — like peppermint. I love the way it smells, and it’s so refreshing too. And lavender — clean, pure, and not at all heavy like the some of the scented products you’ll find in the stores. I’m usually sensitive to heavy perfumes and scents, so Lavender oil was a nice surprise! Read the recipe below-
I really don’t think I would have made a great hippie. My parents were decent at it I suppose but I am too much of an activist. I know hippies were activists in their own right (some of them anyway) but I am blessed/cursed with a unique combination of being conservative and liberal, feminist yet still finding the value of a woman caring for children and staying at home, a Christian but not religious, oh my gosh, it makes my head spin sometimes when trying to decide where I stand on an issue! But phooey on all of that right now! Let’s talk Christmas. Let’s talk Christmas on a budget. Let’s talk Christmas with meaning and depth and gifts that have a lasting impact! Here are my top 6 Wonderful Non Traditional Eco/Human Friendly Christmas Gift Ideas-
