Leadership skills are highly valued in our fast-paced, hustling culture. We look up to, emulate, and follow the advice of well-respected people who work hard, make tough decisions, and lead by example.
But it’s not just organizations that need solid leaders. The most powerful place from which to lead is actually your own life.
When’s the last time you felt fully in control of your life—on top of your to-do’s, aligned with your goals, fulfilled in every area of life that’s most important to you?
This question isn’t meant to make you feel bad; it’s not easy (and not necessarily realistic) for you to be firing on all cylinders at all times. But it is important to remember that YOU are the one in control. This is your life, and you are in charge of making sure that it runs smoothly according to your own standards.
If you find yourself wondering how to get your life together and/or think you may still have a bit of work to do—and we all do at one point or another—these tips will help you in becoming the leader and taking control of your own life.
5 Ways to Confidently Regain Control & “Get Your Life Together”
1. Set goals & dream bigger.
All great leaders set goals. They identify the milestones they want to reach, then create specific, actionable goals that will help them get there. Whether you’re leading a major corporation or leading your (even more majorly important!) life, you need to look into the future and decide where you want to go—then figure out how you’ll get there.
Set goals for yourself, based on where you want to be in six months, a year, and five years from now. And while it’s important to set goals that are fairly realistic, I also encourage you to dream big! Don’t limit yourself by what you’ve accomplished in the past. Stretch yourself a little bit further, allowing room for your inevitable growth. I think you’ll be amazed at the goals you can reach with a little clarity and the right steps to take!
Communication is so much more than just the words we speak or write. It’s also the nonverbal actions and behaviors we exhibit every day.
A sigh, a hug, an eye roll.
Each of these subtle nonverbal cues communicates volumes to our family, friends, peers, and team members. Both good and bad.
Ever had trouble sticking to a diet?
Crave (junk) foods?
Want to snack, especially at night?
These are all indications that you could have some Leptin issues. Leptin is a master hormone in the body that controls hunger and feelings of satiety. Leptin is secreted by adipose (fat) tissue, so the more overweight a person is, typically, the higher his leptin levels. Read on at WellnessMama.com HERE.

ABSOLUTELY my fave line of shoes! I could look for hours in Macy’s and still not find I shoe I love but I ADORE almost every single sandle, shoe, flip flop, slip on from fibi & clo. Pictured here is the first pair I ever purchased and I have others as well. I am enamored with the design (you can dress up or down), the comfort, the style and the selection! Try them and you’ll never go anywhere else!
We often get caught up in our own worried and concerns and totally forget about others, how they feel, what they’re going through, their pain and ALSO their successes. I know for a FACT it can be so healthy to get your mind off of yourself and onto helping others and loving others. Holl & Lane is a wonderful online magazine that I would love for you to check out and this recent article is fab too! Check it out HERE.
Changing the perception of online shows is tough, a small group of us have been doing them on Facebook for over a year and have learned a lot. Now we’ve integrated Facebook, Instagram and Twitter together to create social media shows rather than just “online shows” and we are excited about how it’s going.

The dietary zeitgeist favors foods that are “whole” and “local” over those that are “processed” and “packaged.”
But omitting processed, packaged foods can make it hard to meet your body’s dietary needs. And although not all processed foods are of equal quality, the best of them can deliver lots of nutrition without doing you any harm. Read on HERE from The Washington Post.
Say what you will about hipster style, but the too-cool-for-school approach to dressing—mastered and perpetuated by those who call themselves “hipsters”—has had a pretty massive impact on street style, pop culture, and the world of fashion at large. People all of all ages are loving and strutting this fabulous look! So how can you get the look? Read on at Who What Wear HERE.
Compared to traditional salsa, guacamole sometimes requires a more adventurous palate. Its texture and green appearance may raise an eyebrow at first, but guacamole contains a wealth of essential nutrients not found in more processed alternatives, such as mayonnaise. Once you understand the nutritional profile of guacamole, you may decide to use it to replace less-healthy options. Um YES! Read on HERE.
So you know those wedding vendors who already had a ton of blog followers before they started using Instagram?
Of course, they’re able to build their Instagram to 100k+ followers quickly! Their followers are simply coming from other platforms.
but what about the rest of us who don’t already have a large blog audience to bring to instagram?
What about those who are starting from scratch (or almost scratch)?
When I first started building my Instagram, I had virtually no blog following… well, besides my son.
I was in a perpetual state of the 24/7 hustle, trying to attract clients while nurturing the few clients I already had. It was hard to produce my best work while constantly worrying that client inquiries might disappear the next month.
It wasn’t until I made a few intentional tweaks to my Instagram feed while building a strong strategy that I started to alleviate some of that stress.
To my surprise (and delight), it helped me start booking clients more consistently too because Instagram gave my business a personal touch that larger businesses can’t compete with.
Here are some ways you can do the same:
